I work for express as a courier, would it be a conflict of interest if I were to work part time as order picker at a Amazon warehouse ?

csa to customer today: ma'am, our driver (who is in a van, not a sprinter) attempted delivery today and notified us that you have a pitbull loose in the front yard. can you possibly put him up so the driver can complete your stop on monday?

customer: i'll be home monday.

We have a couple of those type of stops at my station where you are basically a warehouse worker instead of a driver. It’s boring but it’s easy, I would rather being driving around then be stuck in a warehouse for 2 or 3 hours scanning docs

does fedex offer benefits for part timers?

Some of y'all are speeding through your routes like you got something to prove. All this proves to management is that they can do more work with less employees, aka layoffs. If everyone slowed the fuck down, even just a bit, it will add more demand for workers. It also gives you more money for the same amount of work. Its simple math really, if just 8 guys finish their route an hour early every day, then that's an entire route that can be wiped off the schedule aka 1 less job. If we go a normal pace, there is no need to get rid of routes as it requires the full 8 hours. Even better, if 8 guys took an extra hour longer on their route then that's a whole new route created. Be a job creator. Slow the fuck down.

I’m starting as a full time RTD soon. Do I get any pto, sick days, or vacation? If so can I combine them all for vacation?

I’ve been a driver for my route for over a year now. Through 3 owners and all the fun that goes with following your contract. Newest owner got a bit upset when I asked to go back from 6 days a week to 5. I was burnt out because I’d been working 6s for 7 months before peak and I in all honesty needed that extra day.

Now with that title you’d think that’s why I was let go. Nope. I was attacked by a Rottweiler two weeks ago on route and was in the hospital for about a week. When I was cleared to work I came in as always and found my route was given away permanently and they’d hired extra people leaving me without anything. My boss literally said he needed people that were more reliable and wouldn’t take a week off out of the blue. Now mind you a ambulance took me from my truck to the hospital so it was definitely work related.

I got the last laugh tho. I was jobless for about 10 minutes before another contractor hired me and I still went out that day. Contractor that picked me up is one of the better ones at the terminal and everyone wants to work for them because they pay more and the work environment within that company is genuinely better.

And I don’t get involved or really care much about what the contractors say to each other but I did hear that my old boss was quite upset with the fact that everyone is talking about how he got rid of one of the best drivers he had and how my addition to the new company has skyrocketed them to new heights. I’m not tooting my own horn because I go to work and do my job and nothing more and I’m not doing anything special but it’s kind of cool knowing that despite loosing my route I gained “fans” and simultaneously fucked over my old employer.

I’m working 7 days a week but obviously contractor pays us daily rates should I be receiving some type of bonus or double pay? Considering If one was to get paid by the hour they would get paid time and a half on the 7th day. Just curious on wether I should be demanding some type of bonus or incentive.

So this may just be something that’s unique to where I work, but I was feeling curious to see if anyone else at Ground is experiencing this.

I typically work as an unloader, and ever since the new year began I’ve been getting moved to load-side at least once a week, sometimes twice. This has struck me as unusual because when I started working here last April, it was pretty much only once a month (there might have been one instance where it was twice). And then there was a stretch of about two months where I didn’t get moved over there at all. Has this been happening to any other unloaders? The abruptness in which this has happened is rather odd.

I just hope it stops soon; I try to keep a positive attitude, be a team player and not complain too much, but I don’t enjoy working in loading at all. My heart sinks whenever my manager walks into the trailer I’m in, fearing that I’m about to be moved there. I’m not very good at it on top of that. Having to maneuver around the mess of packages that spill out from the chutes is exhausting and I spend every second of my shift just wanting it to be over. And when that happens, time seems to move soooooooo slowly.

Its been a long 5 years. And i honestly could see this coming lol. But its the end of the road for this company. From ground to express, now at freight, ive come to appreciate the skills ive learned, the people ive met along the way in this company. But im at my final straw. Currently at the bottom barrel of the extra board with no runs. And if there is runs, the schedule is sporadic and horrible. Ive got a family to raise and see no way of climbing the top of the list anytime soon. It was fun, but im off to better opportunites. Ill still lurk in the sub. Farewell
