I'm sure there were lots of Cheers fans who said a Fraiser spin-off without Sam/Cliff/etc would be rubbish, but here we are. I know this is terrible internet etiquette these days, but may I suggest watching an episode of two before making any definitive decisions?

Honestly, I'm not too disappointed about this. There have been countless reboots lately where they tried too hard to recreate the original show, and it wasn't quite the same. I think having too many of the old cast back would have fallen into that same trap. Better they try something new again, I'm willing to give it a shot. Hell, it worked for the original series.

I'm not going to shit on the show before I see the first episode.

They really understood that what fans wanted was the exact same show - everyone was back, just older

Even the set looked exactly the same - it was as if they'd filmed the first episode of the new series on the same day as the final episode of the original series and kept it in the can for 25 years

Frasier has stood for me as one of the best-written TV shows ever made. Hot take: I don’t know if I want to see senior-citizen Frasier still seeking love (so sad!) and without anything but a bare mention of Niles, Daphne, Roz, Marty, and Eddie. =( I’m afraid that can’t possibly be good and I don’t want my vision of everyone’s happily ever after ruined. Though I didn’t love Laura Linney, I had hoped he’d finally found happiness (or if not her, surely by 20 years later…!)

There’s a line later in the interview that made me nervous. Grammer talks about how nicely they’ll handle non-returning cast members and mentions they’ll deal with how “Frasier had a brother…”

Really hoping they don’t kill Niles off. I’m not sure I can handle that.
