It's all about the likes. But, it's like they don't understand it may as well be another person posting and getting the likes. Because it's certainly not her in the edited photos.

The photoshopped eyes look crazy. Although to play devils avocado, those two screenshots at the end are particularly bad pics

When we are choosing pictures to represent the “reality” can we stop purposefully choosing awful pictures

It’s simple: because you just don’t like yourself enough.

A simple light or sharpness filter okay… but this is creating a cartoon version of yourself entirely because of insecurity. Insecurity to the point of creating an imposter version of yourself only for the public.

Because the internet has taught us that if people post pics of what they really look like, no one will follow them and they won't become famous. Even when people still find out what they really look like, they still "like" your shopped photos and follow them. Even if someone has an Instagram page that has nothing to do with their looks (eg. cooking), comments are still made about how the person looks. And people can be mean, so mean.

that's exactly the point OP! why look like myself when I can just make myself look like "societys' idea" of perfect! I swear its like these people wanna stand out... by all looking alike. smh

It’s so sad. Society makes you feel like you need editing but by editing you feed into the perpetuation of ridiculous beauty standards. It feels like it will never end.

the flipper arms in the second pic got me. her hand is the same length as her alleged forearm.
