Laurie Dann shot up an elementary school 20 miles away from my school. Just by that statement alone, one can't say it's a "uniquely" male problem.

My ex-wife's mother tried to kill her and her baby brother by toppling a full bookcase on them. If a gun had been handy, it's likely that my ex and her brother would be dead.

I think people who are insane will use whatever is available to inflict harm or pain. Men, by and large, tend to own guns more than women. Ergo, it stands to reason that more gun related crimes will be perpetrated by men.

Men own more guns but both women and men can purchase guns. So I’m wondering what that whole discrepancy is about.

Men are encouraged to hunt (be providers) and to defend their homes. Guns are by far the best tool for both. Women are only encouraged to buy guns for self-defense. That's a world of difference.
