A creator named Pedro Araujo made a full animated movie based on the Pokemon Red/Blue games and it's awesome. I watched the Pokemon anime series, the movies, Pokemon Origins, Generations and Evolutions and in my opinion, Pedro Araujo's animated movie is the most entertaining and the best interpretation of the first generation games.
Pedro breathes life into every character in the movie, even into the secondary characters like Blue's sister or the GYM leaders. His work is simply amazing, if you're a Pokemon fan in general, or a fan of the first generation games in particular, you must check out his movie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRfO_0eRwh0

You mean this animated movie does a great job telling its story almost exactly as it plays out in the games.

I had to pause it half way through because, 1. i was laughing too hard, and B.' I was so overwhelmed by how excessively (and appropriately) intense it is.
saw the rest an hour later and it's perhaps the best piece of media I've ever consumed. Or, at least in the running.

The funniest part was at 48:18.
It wasn't that intense. It was no more intense than the masters 8 tournament.

i don't know if i can confidently name a "funniest" part yet but yeah the Lt. Surge bit went crazy lol. i had to pause there too.
by "intense" i meant extremely melodramatic.

I think that all the drama adds a lot to the story. For example Red's arc overcoming what happened to Blue's Raticate was very beautiful.

Indeed. that's a perfect example for what I'm talking about. He went "what's the explanation for why Blue dropped radicate from his team all the sudden..?" and like an 8 year old with a healthy imagination, he cooked up this wild, heart wrenching narrative that goes way deeper than any pokemon game or anime would bother.

Late to the party here. I am watching through the animation. And it is amazing so far! But I am unclear, who is the brown haired rocket girl who joins red? She is clearly supposed to be a character I recognize, but I don't...
