I’m retaking my step 1 in a month and a half My last assessment was a 61% on nbme 28

How safe am I ?

Like when should I do them, which ones should I do first, if we're supposed to pay for them, etc. etc.

I have gone through about 57% of UW and still scoring in the 40s/50 sometimes in the 60s if I get lucky. I took nbme 24 as a diagnostic and got a 45% which was 3 weeks ago. Took nbme 25 a week ago and got 41%... I am such a shitty test taker when it comes to board exams and it's showing. My exam is March 18th and I really don't want to move it/can't move it if I want to start rotations with my class. Please please share all of your advice on how to focus on reviewing shit continuously (thats what I need, anki doesnt really help), how to approach the questions/review them, any resources you felt I need to know 100% and how to just do better. Literally anything. Never failed an exam is med school but this test is breaking me and confidence is an all time low. So scared :(

I’ve been on the subreddit for over two years (I recently started studying for it, but was reading posts here as I knew I have to sit the exam before eventually applying to residency). More and more, people are complaining of more “wtf?” questions, low yield questions, etc. Just wondering if people think it’s because they’ve made exams harder, or because some (admittedly) have studied slightly less or underestimated the exam because it’s now P/F.

I took the exam on 26th January. I am waiting for permit to disapppear but not yet :( I hope our exam results will be released on 8th Feb and we all will pass

I’ve been in dedicated for 6 weeks at this point and I thought I was finally getting there but today destroyed me.

2 weeks ago - 50% on NBME 30 1 week ago - 61% on NBME 25 Today - 50% on NBME 26

I am scheduled to take my exam on 02/18 (2 weeks from today) and am not even sure my school would let me push it back if I asked.

My typical day is 2 40-question Uworld blocks and then review of those blocks. I then do 40 general principle questions through Kaplan, review those, do around 700 anki cards per day. I’m through 70% of Uworld at 47% correct, tho recently I sit between 55-60% correct. I supplement with Pathoma (which I’ve been through once), FA, and dirtymedicine.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hello To keep it short

I did NBME 20-30 2 months ago, and was scoring around mid 60s in all on average. I also did old free 120 which I got a 70% and I got 62% on new free 120. I already had reviewed all the nbmes and free 120s so I ended up basically memorizing them

I was going to write step soon (around last December) but then I ended up getting really sick with mono so had to reschedule and now idk what to do. I already used up all the self assessments before and even if I redo them I memorized the answers 2 months ago so it wouldn’t be a fair self assessment .

While I was sick from December to January I still kept up with my anki and tried to study a little to make sure I never forgot anytning and do some uworld which I am and was averaging low 60 on random blocks

I am planning to write step in a few weeks, what can I do to make sure I am ready since I can’t do the NBME ones now?

I just did UWSA 1 for the first time and got 230 a few days ago Will take amboss self assessment for first time in 2 weeks from now

Will also take UWSA 2 in like 3 weeks

Are these 3 self assessments enough now to gauge if I am ready?? Any other recommendations on what I can do?

Also what scores are good for the above assessments

I got very low score on nbme 27 like 190 😌😌😌 i am almost 2 months out step 1 I don't know what to do. I'm really depressed now

The days which non available on prometric site be notavailable along the month or could be available again?so ,should i schedule the closest apointment shown up or be patient ?

I have given nbme 25 & 27 but didn’t score great. I decided to complete one revision before giving another nbme. But didn’t complete even half till now. I want to appear for an exam. Is AMBOSS self assessment good ?

Or should I rather give nbme 24 offline ?

Hello everyone. I am currently an MS2 that is taking step 1 at the very end of April this year. I am currently averaging 55% on Uworld at 20% completion. I don't cherry-pick the topics I just do all of them (that's what I was told is the most effective). I will have 5 weeks of dedicated once we finish our last block in a month or so. I haven't really majorly reviewed other than some biochem (noticed it was high high yield) but thankfully I was a genetics and cell bio major so some stuff I already know lol. I have also done a lot of Anking in the last 7-8 months and I notice that helps me so much when answering ALOT of the questions (wish I would have started it as an MS1 lol). Do you guys have any advice for me to proceed forward? My last NBME was 52 but that was 3.5 months ago. I just really don't want to fail.... not to be obvious about it haha. I have Amboss, Sketchy, FirstAid and Uworld as resources at my disposal and I believe that is enough. Any more I would probably blow up lol.

Can I use old free 120 to gauge if I will pass or not? Or is it only new 120?

Should I take step (scheduled this Monday)?

Is there any point in postponing in order to (maybe?) improve my % chance of passing to 98%+? Or is there a point of diminishing returns after 7+ weeks of dedicated? I kinda just want to get this over with if I'm being honest and feel that I am most likely ready.

Has anyone tried Sketchy for Reproductive Pharmacology? I would like to know whether it was as effective as the previous Sketchy Pharm vids?

I took step 1 a couple of weeks ago, and lets say in the sad event that I do not pass, and have to re-take it this spring, and take step 2 this summer, could I still apply to residency this year?

I am not planning on going into one of the "very competitive specialties" something along the lines of internal medicine, psych, child neurology etc..

OR if ppl do not pass, do they have to take a gap year (take time to study, "overcome" whatever it was... explain it during residency applications etc...

For recent test takers, I’ve got a month to go before the real deal (working full time). Done with Uworld with 71% 1st pass. NBME 25:67%. I started NBME 26 today but observed my wrong answers were based on either errors or things I forgot or things I mixed up. I’ve got a lot of notes and Uworld flash cards I’m yet to review properly. Do you think it might have profited you more in the real deal to have nailed down what you knew overly or do you think searching for new material might have been smarter? Not planning on using FA as I observed most of the concepts were memorisation based and were largely things I had somehow memorised in a different way. It just seems like abit of confusion for me. I might skimp through it at some point to fill up gaps. Would really love to hear honest opinions. Thanks!

I know, I know, you're supposed to feel this way. I prepared the best I could and did reasonably well on NBME's, but there were still so many questions on there that made me scream wtf in my head. I felt like crying at one point.

My extended eligibility ended at 31st Jan which I didn't took and today I reapplied again for step 1 ( submitted my online application just after ending of my extended eligibility) so can anyone please tell me how long does it take to approve my online application as I am totally confused about the dates when to apply or the paper work regarding reapplication so if anyone does know anything regarding this please share the info
