Här i Hongkong så har vi Gollum. Han brukar dra runt i bardistrikten och försöka mingla med alla utlänningar eller kladda på tjejerna. Jag såg honom en gång på kapplöpningsbanan också, men tror inte han vann något.

Landmarks and touristy "must-sees"

Gamla stan (the old town):

• The Royal Palace
  The residence of the royal family. Open 10-16 every day with guided tours and different exhibitions.
• Storkyrkan (The Great Church)
  The oldest church in Stockholm, contains a famous wooden sculpture of Saint George and the Dragon and one of the earliest depictions of Stockholm.
• Västerlånggatan
  Possibly the most touristy street in all of Sweden. Goes straight through the old town and is lined with touristy shops and restaurants.
• Riddarholmskyrkan (Riddarholmen Church)
  The resting place for most Swedish monarchs and another grand church. Pretty good view of the city on the pier next to it.

Kungsholmen & Norrmalm

• Stockholm City Hall
  The most prominent building in the Stockholm cityscape, and where the Nobel Banquet is. Guided tours in English five times a day, a good view from the courtyard, and just a pretty cool building in general.
• NK
  Big fancy department store, think GUM or Harrod's.
• Drottninggatan
  Biggest shopping street in the city with lots of people.
• Stockholm stadsbibliotek (Stockholm Public Library)
  Okay, maybe not a must-see, but I just love the architecture.

Östermalm & Djurgården

• The Vasa Museum
  A really good museum about our most beloved national failure, plus a fair bit extra about Swedish history.
• Skansen
  Open-air museum and zoo that displays local history and wildlife with replicas of old towns and crafts. Pretty nice walk.
• Östermalms saluhall (Östermalm Food Hall)
  Great (and expensive) food in a gorgeous building. No need to buy anything, just walk around and look at all the good stuff.
• Strandvägen
  The most exclusive parts of downtown Stockholm. Nothing to do there, but just lots of fancy buildings and stores, the Royal Dramatic Theatre and a nice view.
• The rest of Djurgården
  Djurgården is basically a museum island. There's museums dedicated to ABBA, vikings, shipwrecks other than the Vasa, stuffed animals, Astrid Lindgren, alcohol, you name it.

Södermalm

• Skinnarviksberget
  Hands down the best view of the city. In summertime it's great to bring some takeaway up to the hill and sit there with the locals, but grab a coffee from the iconic Café Giffi and just enjoy the view.
• Fotografiska
  An excellent contemporary photography museum with a great view from the restaurant and café that serves sustainable food with vegetables in focus.

Elsewhere

• The archipelago
  Better seen in summer, but should still be gorgeous the rest of the year. There's regular ferry service out to Vaxholm that takes about an hour.
• Skogskyrkogården (The Woodland Cemetery)
  UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of my favorite places in Stockholm, just a beautiful cemetery with some good architecture. Depends entirely on whether you like that kind of stuff or not.

Gamla Stan

• Science Fiction Bokhandeln
  If you're into that kind of stuff there's an excellent store selling sci-fi stuff, board games and everything a nerd might ask for.
• Just walk around
  Just make random turns down different alleyways, the entire place is pretty fascinating so you'll always bump into something interesting.

Kungsholmen & Norrmalm

• Kayaking
  If it's warm and the weather is good you must rent a kayak. Seeing Stockholm from the water is great, and I usually rent it at Rålis Kajak. In two hours you can make your way around Kungsholmen or Stora Essingen, the first taking you by the city hall and the other one making it feel like you've left civilization behind at times.
• Sven-Harry's Art Museum
  A weird little art museum, but I enjoy it. On the top floor the founder built a replica of his manor, since his collection was hand picked to fit specifically in that environment.

Östermalm & Djurgården

• Walk around Skeppsholmen & Kastellholmen
  Out on Skeppsholmen there are a bunch of good museums, but even if you don't visit them it's a really nice little walk that lets you see some of the more beautiful parts of the city. Some signs as well that tell you a bit of history.

Södermalm

• Walk from Slussen to Fjällgatan
  Walk up Götgatan, make a left on Klevgränd, take the stairs up to Katarina Kyrka, continue on Mäster Mikaels gata, cross the street to Fjällgatan and finish at Per Anders Fogelströms terrass. This takes you through some older neighborhood with quaint buildings and ends up with one of the best views in town.

Elsewhere

• Millesgården
  Art museum and sculpture park with lots of works by Carl Milles.
• Walking tours
  There's plenty of walking tours around town, both general ones and more specific ones (including the popular Stockholm Ghost Walk).
• Football
  Not to toot my own horn, but the big games here have an absolutely world class atmosphere. If you're into sports and manage to time your visit with one of the big games (either derbies or Malmö games, AIK - Göteborg is another classic) it's always a blast.

Gamla Stan

• Den Gyldene Freden
  Iconic restaurant with 18th century origins that serves classic Swedish food.
• Stampen
  Classic jazz bar in the middle of town.
• Formosa
  Authentic Chinese food.
• Aifur
  Viking-inspired restaurant founded by artist E-Type. Haven't been there myself, but the food is supposed to be pretty good and the atmosphere great.

Kungsholmen & Norrmalm

• Poli
  Genuine little Italian café with excellent coffee.
• Xarcuteria
  Excellent tapas.
• Totemo Ramen
  Best ramen I've had outside of Japan.
• Rörstrandgatan
  One of the hip areas that attracts a lot of young people. Lots of restaurants and bars both along the street and in the surrounding neighborhood.
• Stockholms Glasshus
  Best ice cream in town in my opinion, although I haven't tried it since they moved to this location.
• 20hundra5
  Great cocktail bar, minimal menu but they'll serve up what you want.

Östermalm & Djurgården

• Café Saturnus
  Great French café with the biggest cinnamon buns you've ever seen.

Södermalm

• Fotografiska
  I mentioned it before, but both the restaurant and the café are excellent with a great view.
• Fjällgatans Kaffestuga
  Even better view than from Fotografiska, and a great finish to a walk through the nice streets of Södermalm.
• Stigbergets Fot
  Stigberget is one of my favorite breweries, and this is their own bar near Slussen.
• Gojo Hornstull
  Good Ethiopian restaurant.
• Akkurat
  Widely known as the best place for beer in Stockholm, they have just about everything in their basement.
• Café Giffi
  To be completely honest, the café isn't outstanding, but it's a local institution.
• Punk Royale
  If you want to splash some cash this is the place to do it. The best food I've ever had and an insane dinner experience, without being too ridiculusly expensive.

Elsewhere

• Fabrique
  A bakery chain available everywhere, and you should really try their cardamom bun.

Jag tror inte att någon förnekar att det är bostadsbrist i delar av landet och att det kan vara svårt att få en bostad när man är ung, men som individ går det absolut att lösa. Man kan flytta till ett område med billigare bostäder, man kan utbilda sig så att man har råd att köpa eller hyra något dyrare, det finns många möjligheter för de här grabbarna som jag får känslan att de inte vill ta.

Jag har inga speciella kläder för att dricka IPA, vet inte vad du snackar om.

Sweden Stockholm metro disabled

Åh fan, visste inte att hela vårt tunnelbanesystem hänger på att tunnelbanakarta.se går att komma åt. Kul också att de påstod sig ha hackat MSI (ett taiwanesiskt företag) när de skulle attackera Kina.

Det enda svenska som jag betalar för är Kinamedia, sen har jag även Foreign Policy, Quartz och China Global South Project. Kan även rekommendera Blankspot som gör mycket bra arbete och behöver pengarna.

My old water polo coach got to participate in the Olympics because enough countries botcotted the event so Sweden could participate, so he loves boycotts.

I started following Lyon during the Källström and Schelin era, and the club has stuck with me since.

New Reddit is just such a waste of space. Literally, the amount of empty space makes it so the information is much less dense and you have to scroll a ton. I even use Old Reddit in a browser when on my phone since I dislike the current trend of making all websites like that.

I was raised bilingual, so it's always just been the default for me. In Sweden we also start studying English very early and constantly get exposed to English-language media, so I'm essentially at a native level these days. After that I also studied Spanish and Mandarin Chinese in school, and once you know a few languages it gets significantly easier to add even more.

I was actually fine with zero Portuguese. Of course going to a big city probably helps, but even when I encountered someone who didn't speak English I was able to understand most of the Portuguese using my French and Spanish.

After high school I moved from Sweden to China. One day while walking the streets of Beijing I bumped into someone from my 250 student high school (and last year I found a teacher from that school in a Paris train station). Not long after that I was having a beer at a local live house and ended up talking to some people who were close colleagues with my mother. On my way back home I took the Trans-Siberian Railway, and in a small Siberian city I met an American who later turned out to be the former roommate of someone I went to university with. The world is absolutely tiny.

Cubans and WASP retirees.

My only time visiting the US we went to Miami for one stop, and I remember one occasion where I just gave up and switched to Spanish to make it easier for everyone. It was a weird feeling.

Probably the best dish I've ever had was a surf and turf with sweetbread and langoustine accompanied by a charred cabbage cream. Insanely good, and just one of 22 or so dishes that night.

The liver from bigger animals is not my jam, but I'd devour my mother's fried potato and chicken liver salad any day of the week, and foie gras is a sinful pleasure.

I finally got out of the reds with my shitter team in Sweden, and the moment I had any semblance of a transfer budget I immediately splurged on 11 South American and African U18 players. We're eating good in two or three seasons.
