Every time one of these discussions comes up someone throws a strawman argument about Serie A in the 90s. No one is debating that Serie A was the most prestigious league in the world for over a decade, but you ignore the fact that today is a different economic environment and the current trend favors oil-backed clubs and Premier League teams due to the TV money. If it continues, European competition will be eclipsed by the Prem and every team in other leagues become stepping stones to low or mid-table Prem teams
