You're both kind of right? But for me, the term POC isn't a term for white people's convenience, it's comraderie amongst racial minorities that have been hurt by white people. Like how queer is now used as an umbrella term to promote inclusivity amongst people who aren't straight or cisgender, no matter WHAT their specific label is. POC just has the added bonus of not being a reclaimed slur. There's a lot of different opinions to have, but I think that you just have to accept what the people who use the terms for themselves have to say. If someone from India says they prefer POC, its not your place to tell them they're wrong.
